What is the use of wing screws?
If the threads engage before the drilling is complete, the fastener may bond and break. Sharp wings are used in some screws that attach thicker materials (such as wood) to metal. The wing enlarges the hole in the fixing material so that the thread passes through without contacting the fixing material.
What are the characteristics of screws?
In general, the mechanical screw is designed to be fixed to an existing threaded hole on the metal surface, usually with the corresponding nut. The main distinguishing features of machine screws are: external dimension, head shape, groove type, length, material and thread type.
What's the use of screws?
Screws are widely used in threaded fasteners to hold objects together. They are also widely used in screw jacking devices such as containers, vises, jacks and presses. Other mechanisms using the same principle (also known as screws) do not necessarily have shafts or threads.
